Oklahoma couple holds drive-in movie wedding ceremony amid coronavirus pandemic

On family land in Ames, Oklahoma, Joshua Conaway and Taylor Delp had to think outside the box.“I wouldn’t say that COVID-19 screwed up our lives by any means, but we did have a wedding planned for May 23,” Conaway said. Instead, the sorrowful couple held a drive-in-style movie theater wedding. Conaway and Delp changed their invitations by adding movie tickets.“We’ll have a big screen out front and have the full ceremony broadcast over the radio,” Delp said.The wedding was broadcasted thanks to Kingfisher Lights, which let the couple borrow its radio transmitter. Others offered platforms and found a jumbotron.“I thought it would be great if we could keep people in their cars and somehow enjoy the wedding,” Conaway said.Their advice to other couples during this time is to just roll with it and be flexible.On their way out, guests left with a boxed cake that Conaway’s grandmother baked.
